Customer Reviews
J. P. rated this product on 09/03/08 First and foremost, I'm coming back from an 8 year or so hiatus from playing golf - I used to be somewhere around an 8-10 handicap at my consistent best, but I'm just getting back to into the game. My last set of irons while I was still playing regularly were Ping Zing II's. I've waited for about a month and a half before reviewing these clubs, but given the amount of play that I've put in during that amount of time, I feel prepared to give an honest review. Should something happen down the road that should conflict with something I've stated here, I'll provide an update. I placed my order online, and was called that same day by Clark to confirm my details. I used the online club fitting system and cross referenced my results with a couple of other sources, ultimately deciding the fitting was accurate enough to get me started. I ordered the Pinemeadow Excel Mid Launch irons (I felt the Excel Strong were a bit too large and te trajectory concerned me), had the shafts extended by 1/2 inch, upgraded to the TT Lite shafts, and added the Winn Classic Grips. Construction began on my clubs that same day and the entire set 3-SW was ship confirmed the following business day. Because I live in Charlotte, NC, the UPS transit time was a bit longer than most geographies - I went to a used clubfitter and purchased a slightly used Callaway X-18 6 iron (for 15 bucks or so) to tide me over in the interim, and to get my game back on track at the range. In hindsight, this was a great move because I was able to make an apples to apples comparison between the design, feel, and playability of the generic irons verus Callaway's real deal X-18's. So all of this long windedness, and what you're really concerned with is my assessment. From the moment I took the clubs out of the box, I felt amazed at how light and balanced these clubs felt. In comparing these irons to the actual X-18's, they are indeed lighter (probably the TT Lite shafts), and the Winn Grips only make them feel that much better - definitely worth the upgrade. Despite feeling really light, the clubs don't feel cheap. I ultimately selected these irons over the Excel Strong as I traditionally have a higher than average trajectory, and that has proven to be an asset to my game. In examining the irons versus the X-18's, the details are similar but not exactly the same. Looks however don't transcend feel, and I'm confident in saying that the Callaway X-18 6 iron will continue to sit in my garage. I did have some concerns about reliability, but the clubs have fared well thus far, and even after repairing a loose nameplate with epoxy, Clark offered to address any future issues should I have any. Customer support hasn't been and doesn't appear like it will be an issue for Pinemeadow as they stand behind their product. Kudos to Pinemeadow on developing an incredible product at a fair price.
Tim L rated this product on 08/24/08 From the performance aspect, these clubs are amazing for the price. They're much better than any other set you'll find in the price range. After purchasing the set, I immediately saw my irons go farther distances and much straighter than before. The problem is the longevity. Six months or so after purchasing the clubs, the black ring above the club head on my seven iron was loose. A few weeks later the entire head was loose and the club was useless. At that point I had lost the receipt which was my fault, but also meant no replacement for me. And now(15 months after purchasing the clubs) my eight iron has feel victim to the same thing, and I have a five-hybrid that has the black piece loose as well. In other words, it seems to be a problem. My advice is, if you're short on cash and just need a set to get you through a year or two of golf, go with Pinemeadow. I have no doubts of their ability to improve your golf game. But, if you have the money and would like a sturdy set that will last you for five years, you're probably better off going with a name-brand set. As of right now, I'm left debating whether I should give Pinemeadow another shot with the Command Q's, or just shell out the money for a Calloway set...
Heath rated this product on 08/13/08 I have owned this set of clubs for a year now. I was a first time pinemeadow shopper and I have to say I was skeptical. However, I couldn't be happier with the way these irons play. I am hitting the ball straighter than I ever have before. I highly recommend these irons.
Zachary rated this product on 07/29/08 Darren no there was no import tax or anything, but I'm in the military and have an APO address so i cannot see it making a difference, they arrived extremely fast, the total of it was about 20 dollars more but that was totalled for at the end of the bill, good luck with your purchase I highly recommend getting thier Irons, i've recently been playing alot of golf and had a decent set of callaways, and there is no real differnce in playability of these clubs! Pinemeadow is a class of its own!
